Another product of Carlisle United's youth scheme, Adam joined the professional ranks in June 2000 and made his senior debut from the subs' bench in the Worthington Cup first round second leg tie against Grimsby Town. A promising player who can feature anywhere on the left flank he went on to make two more first-team appearances. Adam was placed on Carlisle's transfer list in September 2001.
