Marsh was signed by Darlington from Unibond League club Worksop Town last November but after making his senior debut as a substitute against Mansfield the following month he made only occasional appearances in the first team and was mainly used as a substitute. A young striker his game is characterised by tenacious harrying to put opposition defenders under constant pressure. He was rewarded with his first goal in the LDV Vans Trophy tie against Shrewsbury Town but managed only one start in a league game. Marsh went on the Quakers transfer list in November 2001.
