League position: 8th Wolverhampton Wanderers failed in their attempt to complete a run of seven consecutive games without defeat in the top division for the first time since April 1974. Wolves named the same starting XI for their opening nine games of the season to extend the Premier League competition record. They became the first Premier League team to name the same starting XI in nine consecutive games since Burnley in February 2015. This was their first defeat in 15 home games since losing to Nottingham Forest in the League Championship in January 2018.
