Comments:

This was Wolverhampton Wanderers' first game in the Premier League game since a 2-3 loss at Wigan Athletic in May 2012. The attendance of 31,231 created a new club record for a home game in the Premier League. The previous high in the competition at Molineux was 29,396 for the visit of Manchester United on 17 January 2004. Matt Doherty made his second appearance in the Premier League, 2,513 days after his first in September 2011. Only two outfield players have had a longer wait for their second appearance; Erik Nevland (3,667 days) and Darren Pratley (2,835 days).

Comments:

Richarlison became the first player to score two goals on his Premier League debut for Everton since Jo in February 2009 against Bolton Wanderers. The Toffees had now received more red cards than any other team in Premier League history (90). Phil Jagielka became the first Everton player to be sent-off in the opening game of a Premier League season since Li Tie against Arsenal in 2003. New Everton manager Marco Silva was in charge of Hull City for 18 games in 2016-17 and Watford for 24 games in 2017-18. He became the first manager to take charge of three different clubs across three consecutive seasons in the Premier League.
