Comments:

League position: 17th This was new manager Alan Pardew's first game in charge. The former Crystal Palace boss and player became the fifth manager to take charge of at least five different Premier League clubs. West Bromwich Albion had now taken 32 points from their 34 Premier League games in 2017; the fewest total of any of the Premier League teams to appear in both of the last two seasons. The Baggies remained without a win in their last 13 games in the Premier League.

Comments:

League position: 18th Crystal Palace were now the first top division team to complete a run of ten consecutive away games without scoring a goal since Manchester City in 1949-50 (so the first in the Premier League). Palace had now kept consecutive away Premier League clean sheets for the first time since January 2015. Eagles boss Roy Hodgson returned to The Hawthorns as a manager for the first time since he left in May 2012. Wayne Hennessey was originally named in the starting line-up before suffering an injury in the pre-match warm-up. Julián Speroni was promoted to the starting XI Crystal Palace named only five of a possible seven substitutes.
