Comments:

League position: 10th Watford had now kept clean sheets in three consecutive home games in the Premier League for the first time since September 2015. The Hornets had now won three of their last four Premier League games after failing to win any of their preceding four games. Etienne Capoue scored his first goal in 19 Premier League games having scored five in his previous 12 games in this season. Watford manager Walter Mazzarri said: "We knew it was going to be a very tough game. We could have killed the game off but we didn't and we had to suffer until the end. Until the numbers say we are safe, we are not. I don't want my players to relax and I want to play with the same formation in order to get ready for next season."

League position: 18th Swansea City had now lost five of their last six Premier League games. The Swans had now scored only one goal in their last five Premier League games. They had now lost six consecutive away games in the Premier League for the first time. Swansea City manager Paul Clement said: "The goal has come for an individual error. It's a big mistake. We had over 45 minutes to try and get out of that situation but we couldn't get the breakthrough. The next one [home versus Stoke City] is a must-win game for us. It's the biggest game the club has had in years."
