With the opening goal, Danny Ings became the first Saints player to score 20 goals in a season in all competitions since Rickie Lambert (31 goals) in 2011-12 when they were a League Championship club. Southampton had now scored three or more goals in consecutive away games in the Premier League for the first time since March 2017 when the second game was a 4-3 win at Watford.
