Final league position 2012-13: 3rd On a day when Watford needed to better Hull City's result to gain promotion to the Premier League, first-choice keeper Manuel Almunia suffered a hamstring injury in the pre-match warm-up. His place in the starting line-up was taken by Jonathan Bond with Jack Bonham promoted to the bench. 18 minutes of added time were played at the end of the first-half mainly due to a head injury suffered by Bond. Therefore, Bonham came on to make his senior debut.

Final league position 2012-13: 13th Zac Thompson was originally named in the starting line-up but was replaced by Michael Brown 20 minutes before kick-off after realising that he was ineligible due to his recent loan at Bury not having been completed. Simon Lenighan was promoted to the bench.
