With 13 goals scored in the last two encounters between these sides, hopes were high of a goal fest in the Stade Matmut Atlantique and only a last ditch interception by Ben Davies prevented a great early run and strike by Napoli’s Marek Hamsik from resulting in a goal. On 10 minutes Gareth Bale struck a decent free kick, which really should have saved but the keeper had moved the wrong way and was unable to keep it out. On 62 minutes Ondrej Duda equalised with his first touch of the ball after coming on. After weathering significant Slovak pressure, and with minutes to go, a combination of a stumble by Aaron Ramsey and a mishit by substitute Hal Robson-Kanu resulted in a second goal for Wales. On 86 minutes Adam Nemec headed against the post but Wales stood firm to record an hsitoric victory.
