Comments:

Tranmere Rovers had now conceded six or more goals in a FA Cup tie at Prenton Park for the second season in a row (also 7-0 versus Tottenham Hotspur in the 3rd round on 4 January 2019).

Comments:

This was the first time that six or more players had scored for Manchester United in a senior game since, when still known as Newton Heath, they beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 10-1 at their North Road ground in League Division One on 15 October 1892 (William Stewart, Alfred Farman, Robert Donaldson, Adam Carson, William Hood and James Hendry). This was the first time that the Red Devils had scored five goals in the first-half of a game in all competitions since a 6-1 win against Arsenal in the Premier League at Old Trafford on 25 February 2001 (5-1 at half-time). This was the first time that United had scored five or more goals in the first-half of an away game in the FA Cup since a 6-4 win at Aston Villa in the 3rd round on 10 January 1948 (5-1 at half-time).
