Comments:

League position: 4th Tottenham Hotspur had now dropped as many points in their first seven Premier League games at Wembley so far in this season than in their previous 23 Premier League games at White Hart Lane (nine points). Harry Kane became the first player to score 30 goals in the Premier League in a calendar year since Robin van Persie in 2011. Harry Kane became the fourth player to score 40 goals in all competitions for a club in the top five European leagues in 2017 (also 47 Lionel Messi [47], Edinson Cavani [46] and Robert Lewandowski [41]). Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino said: "We need to be focused and try to improve ourselves and be more consistent at Wembley, and try to win more games here like last season at White Hart Lane. It’s different to White Hart Lane, but that is our reality. We cannot escape from our reality. Our reality is playing here and waiting for our new stadium. That’s not an excuse, the team is doing well. We’re only disappointed because the team dropped two points.”

Comments:

League position: 17th Following the sacking of manager Tony Pulis, this was Gary Megson's first game in caretaker charge. West Bromwich Albion had now kept two clean sheets in their last 25 Premier League away games. Albion had now won two of their last 22 games in the Premier League (lost 13). West Bromwich Albion caretaker manager Gary Megson said: “I did say for those people who haven’t been to the couple of press conferences in the last few days I had consciously decided two and a half years ago if I’m not getting jobs I’m going travelling and going golfing. But the previous 18 months before that I was trying to get jobs and it wasn’t happening. This has whetted my appetite again. I enjoyed being on that touchline. I think I’m good at it. The club’s probably fortunate in that they need somebody to try steady the ship with what’s been happening. I’ve taken over 600 games, it’s not as if I’m from the youth team and using this as a job advert.”
