Comments:

League position: 3rd Harry Kane had now scored 38 goals in the Premier League in 2017. Only Lionel Messi (46) had scored more in Europe's top five leagues. In the last eight games in which he had scored for Tottenham Hotspur in all competitions, Harry Kane scored at least two goals. Spurs had now lost one of their last 16 games in all competitions (won 12). Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino said: "I’m very pleased. The effort was fantastic. After Tuesday in Madrid, to be ready again in a very big game, the way we started, the way we played it first 45 minutes was very good. I'm so pleased for the team, for the fans, because we start to change the feeling that it was difficult to play here at Wembley and start to feel that can be our home. That confidence is so important for the rest of the season."

Comments:

League position: 9th SON Heung-Min's goal was the 1,000th that Liverpool had conceded in the Premier League, making them the sixth team to have reached the milestone. Tottenham Hotspur had conceded the most (1,237). The Reds had now conceded 16 goals after nine games of this Premier League season; their most at this stage of a league season since 1964-65 in League Division One (20). They had now conceded more goals (15) after five away games in this Premier League season than in their 19 away games in 2008-09 (14) when they finished as runners-up. Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp said: "I can’t believe we have a worse statistic since 1964. If Tottenham needed to be genius to come through we do not have to talk but if you make these mistakes it is much too easy. Everything that happened today was so obvious. It was bad in these moments. We have to prove we are better defenders than we showed today. We have a normal week now so we have a lot of time to train. It is an open race who shows me who wants to play next week."
