Comments:

This was the first time that Tottenham Hotspur had conceded seven goals in a home game in all competitions. Spurs became the first English team to concede seven or more goals in any European competition since they lost 8-0 at 1.FC Koln in the UEFA Intertoto Cup on 22 July 1995. The five goal margin became the heaviest-ever home defeat that an English club had suffered in European competitions. With the exception of the UEFA Intertoto Cup, this was the first time that an English club had conceded seven goals in a game in European competitions.

Comments:

Former Arsenal player Serge Gnabry became the third player to score four goals in a European game against an English club; also Sándor Kocsis for Barcelona at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the European Cup on 2 March 1960 and Lionel Messi for Barcelona against Arsenal in the Champions League on 6 April 2010.
