Comments:

Despite finishing level on four points with Wales, Switzerland finished in third place in Group A due to an inferior goal difference. Haris Seferović became the third Swiss player to score at both the FIFA World Cup finals and UEFA European Championship finals after Admir Mehmedi and Xherdan Shaqiri. Xherdan Shaqiri became the fourth player to score at the FIFA World Cup finals of 2012 and 2018 and the UEFA European Championships of 2016 and 2020 along with Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Romelu Lukaku (Belgium) and Ivan Perisic (Croatia).

Comments:

Turkey finished bottom of Group A having lost all three of their group games. They had now lost three consecutive games for the first time since November 2010. Turkey only conceded three goals during qualification for Euro 2020; the joint best record along with Belgium. They also kept eight clean sheets; more than any other team.
