Comments:

Sutton United remained as the last non-league team to win a home FA Cup home tie against top division opposition (versus Coventry City in 1989). Midfielder Craig Eastmond played ten times for Arsenal between October 2009 and November 2010, including one appearance in the FA Cup, while forwards Roarie Deacon and Jeffrey Monakana also started their careers with the Gunners but failed to make the first team grade. The day after this game, reserve keeper Wayne Shaw - known as the roly-poly goalie - resigned after he came under investigation for potentially breaching betting rules. The Gambling Commission and Football Association investigated if there was a breach of betting regulations after he ate a pie in the 83rd minute of the game. A bookmaker had offered odds of 8 to 1 that the 46 year-old would be caught on camera eating a pie.

Comments:

This game was watched by the lowest attendance for a senior Arsenal game since 4,554 saw the Gunners’ First Division game against Leeds United at Highbury on 5 May 1966. Theo Walcott became the 18th player to score 100 goals for Arsenal in all competitions. Having been drawn against Lincoln City in the quarter-finals, Arsenal would now face non-league teams in consecutive FA Cup rounds for the first time since the 1908-09 season when they played Croydon Common and Millwall Athletic, both of the Southern League.
