League position: 20th Wahbi Khazri's goal was Sunderland's first goal in the Premier League for 701 minutes (11 hours and 41 minutes) since their win at Crystal Palace on 4 February 2017. The Black Cats remained without a win at the Stadium of Light in eight Premier League games since 17 December 2016. They avoided losing four consecutive Premier League games for the first time since December 2015. Sunderland manager David Moyes said: "We need to win games and today had to take three points. It wasn't for the want of trying. We'll keep believing while we're in with a chance, and somewhere along the line hope the football gods will shine on us."

Comments:

League position: 13th West Ham United had now dropped 22 points from winning positions in this Premier League season; more than any other team. The Hammers had now gone 13 consecutive away games without a clean sheet in the Premier League. United had now been shown more red cards than any other team in this Premier League season (five). West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic said: "We are disappointed to concede a late goal. It was a fair result. It is a point, we wanted three and we were close. We have four points from the last two games, we have an unfinished job to do. We have to pick up more points to be safe."
