Comments:

League position: 20th Relegated Sunderland had now failed to score in 19 games in the Premier League in this season; more than any other team. The Black Cats were now without a win in their last ten home games in the Premier League (lost six). With this being their final home game at the Stadium of Light in 2016-17, they won fewer points at home this season than any other team in the Premier League (14). Sunderland manager David Moyes said: "Everyone watching can see we need big changes. We need to alter the playing staff and I think everyone is aware of that. We changed it at half-time but ultimately we needed to impose ourselves on Swansea. The first goal was the turning point."

League position: 17th This was Swansea City's first win in their last eight away games in the Premier League (lost six). The Swans kept a clean sheet for the first time in their last 18 away games in the Premier League. Kyle Naughton scored his first goal since 12 March 2011 when he netted for Leicester City at Scunthorpe United in the League Championship. Swansea City manager Paul Clement said: "It's a huge result for us. We've got ourselves into a strong position but the season is not over and we don't think it is done. Now have to look to next week. There's still one game to go. We'll be looking at the Crystal Palace-Hull game tomorrow with a lot of interest but we can be happy with our work today."
