Comments:

League position: 19th Sunderland had now won one of their last seven Premier League games (lost five). Jack Rodwell had now yet to win in any of his 35 Premier League starts for the Black Cats. They became the second team not to use any of their three substitutes in a game so far in this Premier League season (also Hull City against Leicester City on the opening day in August). Adnan Januzaj was booked in the fifth minute of added time in the second-half.

Comments:

League position: 9th Stoke City had lost their last three away games in the Premier League. The Potters scored three goals in an away game in the Premier League for the first time since a 3-1 win at AFC Bournemouth on 13 February 2016. Only Jon Walters (41) had now scored more goals in the Premier League for City than Peter Crouch (36)
