Jack Rodwell had now made his 34th start for Sunderland in the Premier League but was yet to be on the winning team, so extending the competition record. Jermain Defoe became the fourth player to score ten or more goals in ten different Premier League seasons (also Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard).
