Kick-off: 3.00pm Following a plane crash on Monday 28 November in Colombia that killed 71, a minute's silence was held before every football match this weekend. Football's world governing body FIFA also requested that all players wear black armbands in remembrance. Nineteen of the dead were members of the Chapecoense Football Club from Brazil on their way to play the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final in Medelin, Colombia. This was Sunderland's first win against Leicester City since 23 April 2005 in the League Championship, a result that confirmed Mick McCarthy's Black Cats' promotion to the Premier League.

Comments:

League position: 15th With two wins and six draws, Ipswich Town in 1962 were now the only reigning league champions to make a worse 14-game start to the defence of their title than Leicester City (three wins and four draws). The Foxes had now lost six of their last seven Premier League away games, conceding 18 goals and failing to score more than one goal in a game during this run. Last season's leader scorer Jamie Vardy had now gone 16 games without a goal for City in all competitions since 10 September 2016.
