League position: 20th Sunderland now remained without a win in their last 25 Premier League games played in the months of August or September (lost 17). The only other occasion that the Black Cats had lost a Premier League game after holding a two-goal lead was against Tottenham Hotspur on 14 April 2001 when they also lost 2-3. They conceded three goals in consecutive home games in the Premier League for the first time since September 2013 (versus Arsenal and Liverpool).

League position: 7th This was only the second time in the Premier League that Crystal Palace had come from two goals down to win a game. They also won 3-2 at Burnley on 17 January 2015. It was the third time that the Eagles had won a Premier League game with a 90th minute winner (also at Aston Villa (1-0) on 26 December 2013 and versus Sheffield Wednesday (1-0) on 10 May 1998). Christian Benteke had now scored more goals against Sunderland than against any other team in his Premier League career (seven goals in eight games). Yohan Cabaye was booked in the fourth minute of added time in the first half. Lee Chung-yong replaced Jason Puncheon in the third minute of added time in the second half. Christian Benteke scored in the fourth minute of added time in the second half.
