Comments:

League position: 9th Stoke City had now lost only one of their last 11 home games in the Premier League (won five). The Potters had now won three of their last 12 league and cup games. Joe Allen had now scored six goals this Premier League season; his previous highest total in the division was four in 2011-12. Stoke City manager Mark Hughes said: "It was a hard-fought win, I have to say. We needed that breakthrough and it was a great goal when it came. We always felt that we would see the game through to a conclusion once we went ahead."

Comments:

League position: 19th Crystal Palace had now won only one of their last 11 Premier League games; eight of them under new manager Sam Allardyce. Palace were now the only team to have earned more points away than at home in this Premier League season. They had now failed to score in four of their last five Premier League games. Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce: "They scored their only shot on target in the second-half. It's a 1-0 defeat again and not the point that we deserve at least."
