Comments:

League position: 4th Southampton named only six of a possible seven substitutes. They have conceded the fewest goals in the Premier League in this season (17 so far) and only leaders Chelsea had kept as many clean sheets (12 in 25 games).

Comments:

League position: 8th Keeper Adrian was sent-off after 61 minutes for handling the ball outside the area. However, his subsequent claim for wrongful dismissal was up held and the red card withdrawn. Effectively reduced to nine men in the closing stages (Andy Carroll was left limping due to injury after Adrian had been sent-off and all three subs used), West Ham United kept their first clean sheet in their last 18 away games in the Premier League. Had he come on, unused substitute Reece Oxford would have become the youngest player ever to appear in the Premier League. It was the third time he head taken his place on the Hammers' bench but this was his last chance to beat the record held by Fulham's Matthew Briggs (16 years and 68 days versus Middlesbrough on 13 May 2007).
