League position: 12th Southampton avoided equalling their club record of 16 consecutive home games in the top division without keeping a clean sheet (from March 1998 to January 1999). They had now won five of their last eight games in the Premier League (lost two) after failing to win any of their preceding eight games in the division (lost six). Danny Ings scored his 20th goal in the Premier League for the Saints in his 45th appearance. Only Marians Pahars had reached this total in the division for the club in fewer games (44).

Comments:

League position: 6th Tottenham Hotspur had now completed a year since keeping a clean sheet in their away games in the Premier League (a 3-0 win at Cardiff City on 1 January 2019). Spurs failed to score for the second time in their last 17 games in all competitions. They had now lost four of their last eight games in all competitions (won three). Harry Kane scored after 73 minutes but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review due to an offside decision.
