Comments:

League position: 13th Southampton had now won their first home game of a league season in three of the last 31 seasons. The Saints avoided becoming the second team to lose both of their opening two games in the Premier League in three consecutive seasons after AFC Bournemouth from 2015 to 2017. They had now drawn two of their last 16 games in the Premier League (won four, lost ten).

Comments:

League position: 5th Manchester United had now equalled Arsenal's all-time record set from April 2003 to September 2004 of 27 consecutive away games in the top division without defeat. The Red Devils had now failed to keep a clean sheet in their last ten games in all competitions. Mason Greenwood became the first teenager to score in the first two games of a Premier League season since Alan Smith of Leeds United in 2000-01.
