The Saints had now won one of their last nine final games of a Premier League season (lost five). They finished this Premier League season on 39 points; three more points than the previous season when they finished in 17th position. Nathan Redmond had now scored as many goals (six) in 23 games in the Premier League under Ralph Hasenhüttl as he had in his previous 75 games for Southampton.
