League position: 4th Graziano Pelle was booked in the fifth minute of added time in the second half. This was the first occasion this season that Southampton have dropped points from a winning position. The Saints ended the year in the top four of the Premier League for the first time. The last time they ended the year in the top four of the top division was in 1989-90 under manager Chris Nicholl.
