Comments:

League position: 13th Southampton remained without a win in the Premier League since the visit of Liverpool on 4 January 2021; longer than any other team currently in the division. The Saints had now conceded five goals from penalties so far in this Premier League season; they had now only conceded more penalty goals in the division in 1993-94 and 2016-17 (six in both). Since joining on loan from Liverpool, Takumi Minamino had now scored more goals in the Premier League in three games for Southampton (two) than in 19 appearances for the Reds (one).

Comments:

League position: 4th Chelsea failed in their attempt to win five consecutive games in the Premier League for the first time since November 2019. Takumi Minamino became the first opposition player to score in the Premier League against the Blues since the recent appointment of manager Thomas Tuchel (played six). They had now taken 43 points from their 25 games so far in this Premier League season; two more points than at the same stage of the previous season.
