League position: 20th Norwich City had now lost their opening five league games of a season for the first time in their history. The Canaries became the fifth team to lose their first five games of a season in the Premier League; most recently Crystal Palace in 2017. They had now now lost their last 15 games in Premier League; only Sunderland (20 in the Premier League in 2005) had now suffered a longer such sequence in the top division.

League position: 11th Watford avoided failing to score in four consecutive league games for the first time since May 2017. Emmanuel Dennis became the second player to score the Hornets' first home goal and first away goal in a season in the Premier League after Etienne Capoue in 2016-17. Since making his debut in August 2019, Ismaïla Sarr had now scored 21 league goals for Watford.
