Comments:

League position: 10th Teemu Pukki scored Norwich City's fourth hat-trick in the Premier League and the first since Efan Ekoku versus Everton in September 1993. He also became the first player to score in his first two appearances in the Premier League for City since Ashley Ward in December 1994. Daniel Farke became the first Canaries manager to win his first home game in the Premier League since Mike Walker in August 1992. Each of their last seven managers had lost their first game at Carrow Road in the division. They had now have conceded 200 goals in their 159 home games in the Premier League (scored 212).

Comments:

League position: 17th Newcastle United had now won their first away league game in only two of the last 22 seasons (lost 12). The Magpies had now won two of their last 29 games in the Premier League played in August (lost 17) and remained without a win in their last eight. After signing from Gillingham, United manager Steve Bruce made his debut for Norwich City on 25 August 1984 against Liverpool. He ‘scored’ an own goal after 30 seconds.
