Comments:

League position: 17th Newcastle United avoided becoming the first team to lose their opening six home games in a top division season. They also avoided going without a win in their opening 11 games of a league season for the first time in their history and equalling their club record of six consecutive home league defeats which was set in 1953. Three of the seven goals they had so far scored in this Premier League had been scored by substitutes. In his 116th game in all competitions, this was Rafael Benítez's 50th win as the Magpies' manager.

Comments:

League position: 8th Watford failed in their attempt to win three consecutive Premier League games without conceding a goal for the first time since December 2015. The Hornets failed to score for the third time in their 11 games so far in this Premier League season. They had now lost four of their last seven games in the Premier League (won two).
