Comments:

League position: 20th Newcastle United had now extended their club record to 14 games from the start of a league season without a win. None of the three teams that had previously failed to win any of their first 14 games of a season in the Premier League had avoided relegation (Swindon Town in 1993-94, Queens Park Rangers in 2012-13 and Sheffield United in 2020-21). Ciaran Clark’s dismissal was the Magpies’ quickest red card in a game in the Premier League since Nikos Dabizas at Blackburn Rovers on 18 October 2015 (four minutes). This was the first time that the Toon had played a home game in the Premier League when they started the day at the bottom of the table since 18 October 2015 when they beat Norwich City 6-2. Newcastle United were awarded a penalty after 60 minutes following a VAR review for handball.

Comments:

League position: 18th Norwich City had now taken eight points from their last four games in the Premier League after taking six points in their previous 25 games in the division. The Canaries remained without a win in the 15 games they had played in the Premier League game on a Tuesday (lost 11). This was the first time that City had recovered a point from a losing position in an away game in the Premier League since their visit to Liverpool on 20 September 2015.
