The Magpies conceded four or more goals in a home game for the first time since Manchester United's 4-0 win in the Premier League on 5 April 2014. United had now been awarded 17 penalties in the Premier League since the start of the previous season; five more than any other team. Aaron Wan-Bissaka scored the first goal of his senior career in his 96th appearance (46 for Crystal Palace and 50 for the Red Devils). Bruno Fernandes scored after 18 minutes but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review due to an offside decision. Manchester United were awarded a penalty after 56 minutes following a VAR review but Bruno Fernandes' attempt was saved.
