Comments:

League position: 13th This was the first time that Newcastle United had come from two goals down to win a game in the Premier League since a 3-2 win at Fulham on 16 October 2003. The Magpies had now won five consecutive home games in the Premier League for the first time since April 2004. All of Ayoze Perez's last eight goals in the Premier League had now been scored at St James' Park.

Comments:

League position: 11th This was 394th game in all competitions in their history that Everton had led 2-0 at half-time but only the second time they had gone on to lose (also versus Sheffield United at Goodison Park in League Division One on 19 April 1975). [c/o Steve Johnson, Everton: The Official Complete Record] Matt Ritchie’s 31st minute penalty was saved. Jordan Pickford had now saved five of the 13 penalties he had faced for the Toffees in all competitions. This was now the first time that Everton had two or more players (Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson) who had scored 11 or more goals in a league season since 1986-87 in League Division One (Trevor Steven, Kevin Sheedy and Adrian Heath). They failed in their attempt to keep three consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League for the first time since January 2017. The Toffees had won two of their preceding three away games in the Premier League. Seamus Coleman was originally named in the starting line-up before suffering an injury in the pre-match warm-up. Jonjoe Kenny was promoted to the starting XI with Tom Davies taking his place on the bench.
