Comments:

League position: 14th Newcastle United were now without a win in their last eight Premier League games at St James' Park (lost five); their worst such run since April 2009. They had now taken two points out of a possible 36 against teams that began the day in the top half of this season's Premier League table. Kenedy became the first Brazilian to play for the Magpies in the Premier League since Claudio Cacapa in December 2008.

Comments:

League position: 7th Burnley had not now won any of their last 51 games in the Premier League when they have conceded the first goal (lost 41). The Clarets avoided losing their opening five games of a year in all competitions for the first time since 1932. Nick Pope saved Joselu’s 34th minute penalty so becoming the first time that Newcastle United had missed a penalty in the Premier League since Loïc Rémy on Boxing Day in 2013 against Stoke City.
