League position: 20th Although this was new manager Eddie Howe's first game in charge, he was unable to attend due to testing positive for COVID-19. This draw extended Newcastle United’s club record to 12 games for their longest run without a win from the start of a league season. Ivan Toney’s equaliser became the 50th goal that the Toon had conceded in the Premier League that was scored by a player who had previously played for them in the division.

League position: 14th Brentford had now drawn 50 of their 222 games in the top division (won 79, lost 93). The Bees avoided losing a five consecutive league games for the first time since December 2007 in League Two. They had now conceded ten goals in their last four games in the Premier League.
