Comments:

League position: 18th Newcastle United had now won one of their last ten games in the Premier League (one draw). The Magpies had now taken one point from their opening five games of this season to equal their lowest total at this stage of a Premier League season (also 1999-2000). This was now the third time that they had lost their opening three home games of a top division season, and first time since 1987-88.

Comments:

League position: 7th Arsenal had now won three of their last 12 away games in the Premier League (lost eight), although they had now won three of their last four. The Gunners had now failed to keep a clean sheet in their first five games of a top division season for the first time since 1988-89 in League Division One. The ten goals that Arsenal had scored so far in this Premier League season had now been scored by ten different players. Mesut Özil made his 200th appearance for Arsenal in all competitions and scored his 38th goal.
