Comments:

League position: 11th Newcastle United had now scored more than one goal in consecutive games for the first time in this Premier League season. Seven of the Magpies' 11 goals so far in this Premier League season had now been scored by recognised defenders. Steve Bruce had now taken charge of 916 games in all competitions but this will be his first ever meeting with AFC Bournemouth. They became the 87th different team that he had faced in his managerial career.

Comments:

League position: 7th This was AFC Bournemouth's first defeat in their eight games so far in this Premier League season against teams below them in the table (won four). The Cherries failed in their attempt to keep clean sheets in four consecutive games in the Premier League for the first time, and for the first time in league games since March 2014 in the League Championship. They had now scored two goals in their last five games in the Premier League.
