Comments:

Final league position 2017-18: 2nd This was Manchester United's 500th home game in the Premier League (won 363, lost 49). It was also their 1,000th game in the competition (won 629, lost 156). Having finished as runners-up, United finished in their highest position for five years since they won the title under Sir Alex Ferguson in 2012-13. The Red Devils won every game in this Premier League season when they scored the first goal (21 games); only Portsmouth in 2007-08 (14 games) had matched this feat. Since the start of the 2016-17 season, they had now kept more clean sheets in the Premier League than any other team (36).

Comments:

Final league position 2017-18: 14th Watford had now failed to keep a clean sheet in their last nine games and failed to score in their last nine away games. They had now lost six of their last nine games in the Premier League (won one). This was the first time that the Hornets had finished a top division season with an away game since 1987-88 when they lost 2-1 at Luton Town in League Division One. Heurelho Gomes became the second player to make 100 appearances for Watford in the Premier League after Troy Deeney (104).
