Comments:

League position: 5th Marcus Rashford missed a penalty in the 70th minute. Manchester United had now failed to convert five of the 15 penalties they had been awarded in the Premier League since the start of the previous season. United named an unchanged line-up in a game in the Premier League for the first time since December 2017 (versus Watford and Arsenal). Dan James became the seventh player to score for the Red Devils in both of his first two games in the Premier League at Old Trafford. This was the earliest date in a season that United had played a Saturday game at Old Trafford with a 3pm kick-off since 2003.

Comments:

League position: 10th Crystal Palace had now taken nine points from their three away games in the Premier League at Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United in the preceding eight months but taken only 13 points from their 12 home games over the same period. Patrick Van Aanholt became the second ever player to score a 90th minute winner against Manchester United in the Premier League after Thierry Henry for Arsenal in January 2007. He became the first opponent to do so in a Premier League game at Old Trafford. This was Roy Hodgson's first win in his nine visits to Old Trafford in the Premier League during his managerial career (lost seven). Gary Cahill made his 350th appearance in the Premier League.
