Comments:

In becoming the 43rd club to win the competition, Wigan Athletic won the FA Cup for the first time in their 81 year history. They were playing in the Northern Premier League as recently as 1978. Chairman Dave Whelan broke his leg playing for Blackburn Rovers in the 1960 FA Cup final against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Wembley.
