Despite stuttering away form, City had won their last four Premier League home games; scoring a total of 12 goals with none in reply. James Collins' own goal was the 100th goal in Premier League games involving Manchester City in 2014-15 (66 for and 34 against). Sergio Aguero scored his 20th Premier League goal of the season although this game's was his first from open play at the Etihad Stadium since 2 November 2014 against Manchester United. His only subsequent league goal on home soil was a penalty versus Newcastle United on 21 February.
