League position: 1st With one game still to play, Manchester City’s total of 97 points in 2017-18 had now only been bettered in a top division season by Liverpool (98) in 1978-79 (three points for a win basis). With 105 goals, City had now set a new Premier League record for the most goals in a season. They also became the first team to score more than 103 goals (Chelsea in 2009-10) in a top division season since Tottenham Hotspur (111) in 1962-63. They had now won 31 games in this Premier League season; the joint-most in a top division season (also Tottenham Hotspur from 42 games in 1960-61).

Albion were now without a win in their last 12 away games in the Premier League since 4 November 2017 (lost eight).
