Comments:

The attendance of 52,692 was the highest at Anfield in the FA Cup since 55,881 witnessed Middlesbrough's visit in the 6th round on 19 March 1977. This was only the fourth time that Liverpool had failed to beat a team from the fourth tier in the FA Cup (won 12, drawn four).

Comments:

Plymouth Argyle became the first team from the fourth tier to avoid defeat in a FA Cup tie at Anfield since Doncaster Rovers in a 2-2 draw in the 3rd round on 5 January 1974.
