Comments:

League position: 2nd Liverpool became the fourth team to win 300 home games in the Premier League (played 496). Mohamed Salah had now scored in 26 games in all competitions in 2017-18; more games than any other player in Europe's top five leagues. Sadio Mané's goal was the 200th that the Reds has scored in the Premier League under manager Jürgen Klopp. Since he was appointed in October 2015, only Manchester City (214) had scored more.

Comments:

League position: 16th Newcastle United had now lost two of their last nine games in the Premier league (also versus leaders Manchester City). All three of United manager Rafael Benitez’s previous Premier League games against Liverpool, his former club, had finished as draws, with both at Anfield finishing 2-2.
