Comments:

League position: 3rd Liverpool had now lost two of their last 25 home games in the Premier League (won 15). The Reds had won five and drawn two of their preceding seven games in the Premier League. Had he come on as a substitute, 17 year-old Rhian Brewster would have become the first player born in 2000 to appear in Premier League. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "I have no idea how Crystal Palace are in the situation they are. We knew it was difficult. It is frustrating, disappointing of course. Everyone thinks the Champions League has slipped through our fingers but we have one more month to stay positive. We have to try everything to squeeze everything out of this season."

Comments:

League position: 12th Crystal Palace had now won six of their last eight games in the Premier League (lost one). Christian Benteke had now scored more goals in the Premier League at Anfield as a visiting player (five) than he did when he was playing for Liverpool (four). This was Palace boss Sam Allardyce's first win in his 14 visits to Anfield in the Premier League during his managerial career (lost ten). Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce said: "Out of possession we frustrated Liverpool today so much that they had little opportunity to have a clean shot on goal. We did more with our possession than Liverpool and that is why we won."
