Comments:

League position: 1st Liverpool conceded their first goal in the Premier League at Anfield since Michail Antonio’s strike for West Ham United on 24 February 2018. It meant they failed in their attempt to keep clean sheets in ten consecutive home games in the top division for the first time. The Reds had now lost one of their last 46 home games in the Premier League against newly-promoted teams (won 36); losing against Blackpool in 2010-11. Sadio Mané became the seventh African player to score 50 or more goals in the Premier League; also Didier Drogba (104), Emmanuel Adebayor (97), Aiyegbeni Yakubu (95), Yaya Toure (62), Nwankwo Kanu (54) and Efan Ekoku (52).

League position: 17th Cardiff City failed in their attempt to win consecutive games in the top division for the first time since April 1962. The Bluebirds had now scored two goals in their last seven away games in the Premier League. City had now lost 15 of their last 16 games in the Premier League against the big six opposition (drawn one) and conceded two or more goals in 13 of those games.
