Rodrigo failed in his attempt to become the first player to score in the Whites' first three home games of a season in the Premier League since Lee Chapman in 1992-93. They had now taken taken 30 points from their 25 games in the Premier League in 2022.

Comments:

League position: 15th Everton had now scored one goal in each of 11 of their last 20 away games in the Premier League (none in seven of the other nine). The Toffees did not make a substitution in a game in the Premier League for the first time since 20 December 2014 in a 3-0 defeat at Southampton. Amid reports of an impending transfer to Chelsea, Anthony Gordon had now scored in consecutive games for the first time in his senior career.
