League position: 11th Huddersfield Town failed in their attempt to win three consecutive home games in the top division for the first time since December 1955. The Terriers had now lost five of their last seven Premier League games (won two). They had now had a player sent-off in each of their last two home games in the Premier League. Huddersfield Town manager Pep Guardiola said: “Everyone knows how strong Man City’s offensive line is and how many opportunities they can usually create. I think they created less today, this is credit to my players, but this quality will always create opportunities. Unfortunately, they used two, the second was very unlucky but this is a top-class team. We lost today, a disappointing result because the players invested so much, I think they deserved to get something for what they invested."

League position: 1st Manchester City became the first-ever team to take 37 points from their opening 13 games of a Premier League season. City also became the first-ever top division club to win 11 consecutive away games in all competitions. This was the first time they had won an away game in Premier League when losing at half-time since 17 April 1995 in a 3-2 win at Blackburn Rovers. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said: “The winter has come and it’s tough. But we did it. More than winning the others, we need to win this kind of game, to live this situation and to win the game is so important. The message is that we have to live this kind of situation if you want to arrive at the time of the season to fight for the title. You see my face, I am so happy.”
