Comments:

League position: 8th Everton had now lost five of their last eight home games in the Premier League against newly-promoted teams (won two). This was the first time that the Toffees had conceded five or more goals in a home game since the visit of Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on 23 December 2018 (lost 6-2). Tom Davies' opening goal after two minutes and ten seconds was their quickest goal in the Premier League at Goodison Park since he netted against Leicester City in April 2017 (30 seconds). Everton named eight of a possible 12 substitutes.

Comments:

League position: 14th Following a 5-0 home defeat in their preceding game against Liverpool a week earlier, this was the second time that Watford had scored five or more goals in a game in the Premier League (also 5-1 at Cardiff City on 22 February 2019). The Hornets had now taken 101 points from their 138 away games in the Premier League (won 26, lost 89). Josh King became the first former Everton player to score a hat-trick against the Toffees since Tom Browell for Manchester City in League Division One on 19 September 1925. [c/o EFC Statto]
